Summer fun is right around the corner this week with these special area events in Milton and Alpharetta. With a mix of family activities, charity events and eclectic crafts, Georgia has something for everyone. Experience the community like never before at these local attractions.

radKIDS Self Defense Course, August 3-4

Kids ages five to 12 are empowered to watch out for their own safety and take care of themselves in potentially dangerous situations with self defense training from radKIDS. The event costs $15 for two four-hour training sessions held at City Hall by radKIDS and the local police department.

Market at Matilda’s, August 4-6

If you’re a fan of antiques, vintage items, unusual art and upcycling, you don’t want to miss the Market at Matilda’s. This indoor and outdoor popup market brings together some of the best artists and vendors in the area to offer a shopping experience like no other. As you walk down Main Street in Alpharetta, you’ll find a variety of clothing, jewelry, textiles, curiosities and more. It’s the perfect place to shop for gifts or to find something special for yourself.

Family Fun, Flicks & Food Trucks, August 6

Held the first Saturday of every month during the summer, “Family Fun, Flicks & Food Trucks” combines the atmosphere of a drive-in theater with gourmet food from a local food truck. Take the family or a date over to the front lawn of Milton High School and get settled in for dinner and a showing of The Blind Side. The movie starts at 9:00 pm.

Akrosphere Aerial & Circus Arts Free Weekend of Fun, August 6 and 7

Spend some quality time with the kids as you travel from station to station, completing challenges at Akrosphere’s Free Weekend of Fun. Every station offers a different experience. You may find yourself encountering a physical challenge, getting creative or acting like you’re at the circus to earn stamps and get a prize once the whole course is completed. Come back the next day to try out unlimited free “mini classes” in aerial skills, trapeze, dance and more.

Whether you want to wander a market on your own to unwind after a hard week or treat the kids to a fun-filled day of creative play, you don’t have to go far to enjoy the best Georgia has to offer.
