Spring is the start of not only warmer weather, but some of the most interesting and enjoyable festivals Atlanta has to offer. Atlanta festivals are known to appeal to all tastes, especially those hosted in April. Find out what exciting events Atlanta has in store for you this spring!
Four Atlanta Festivals in April
1. Atlanta Dogwood Festival: Atlanta’s annual celebration of the blooming of their native dogwood trees fills Piedmont Park with live music, arts and crafts, food booths and family friendly activities. In 2012, this festival was ranked No. 35 in the Sunshine Artist Magazine Best 200 fine arts festivals in the nation.
2. Georgia Renaissance Festival: For eight weekends in the spring, the Georgia Renaissance Festival takes the Atlanta area back to 16th-century Europe. With approximately 1,000 people clothed in period costumes, this festival offers many historical live entertainment opportunities, such as jousting, glass-blowing and sword-swallowing shows. This festival also includes a haunted ship, a rock climbing wall and Artisan’s Market, showcasing weaving, spinning and coin minting demonstrations.
3. Innman Park Festival: The Innman Park Festival takes place in one of Atlanta’s oldest and most intriguing neighborhoods. It highlights the work of local artists, a tour of the Victorian homes of the late 1800s, a 5k run, where participants are encouraged to dress in period clothing, children’s activities, and live music and dance by some of the finest ballet and modern dance companies in Atlanta.
4. Sweetwater 420 Fest: This spring marks the 12th Annual Sweetwater 420 Fest, featuring the musical talents of Kid Rock, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Bastille, Ludacris, The Disco Biscuits and Cypress Hill.
